Cancun, Mexico - December 2010
As part of an International Environmental Policy class at Ithaca College, I had the privilege of attending the UNFCCC's COP 16 in Cancun, Mexico. We attended the conference as a registered non-profit organization and had access to all side events and presentations by different nations and organizations. While we did not have direct access to the delegations, I learned so much from this experience as it was my first true exposure to environmental policy. The trip introduced me to the complexities of working at the international level, but also the power that organizations and nations can have when they work together towards a collective goal. This experience inspired me to continue studying international environmental issues and pursue a future in policy.
